From my very first day in the field, precision and problem-solving became the cornerstones of my career. I vividly remember working alongside a meticulous foreman in the damp crawl space of a commercial building in Walker’s Point. That day, I was tasked with applying the mathematical constant 1.414 to plumbing—a challenge that required me to dig into my high school studies to determine the precise length of pipe needed. Despite multiple setbacks, the experience left an indelible mark on me. It demonstrated the value of accuracy and sparked my passion for using mathematical principles to tackle real-world problems.

When I launched Axis Mechanical LLC, I knew I wanted these principles to be a central part of my business. Inspired by that first experience and the Pythagorean theorem, I chose a name and brand that reflect my commitment to precision and problem-solving. The name “Axis” signifies a foundation of balance and accuracy, while the incorporation of 345 into my company’s phone number is a nod to the Pythagorean theorem, a concept that has shaped my approach to plumbing.

The Pythagorean theorem—discovered by the ancient Greek philosopher Pythagoras around 500 BC—states that in a right triangle, the square of the hypotenuse equals the sum of the squares of the other two sides. For plumbers, this principle simplifies calculating offsets at 45-degree angles, multiplying by the constant 1.414.
